The Wastewater department operates Rupert's sewer collection system and treatment facility at 186 S 50 W. The office is open Monday through Thursday, 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
The treatment facility underwent major upgrades, completed in 2012, and has capacity to handle both residential and commercial expansion. The plant transforms incoming waste into nutrient-rich irrigation water and fertilizer for nearby farmland. You can watch construction progress at the treatment facility on the live webcam below.

Protect Your Sewer Line & the System
Please do not flush or pour any of the following down drains or toilets — they clog service lines and damage the treatment process:
- Bathroom wipes (even those labeled "flushable"), tissues, and paper towels
- Feminine hygiene products, make-up pads, and medical materials
- Condoms and dental floss
- Kitty litter — it contains clay, which narrows the opening of your sewer pipe
- Grease, oils, and hazardous materials
Never plant trees over your sewer service line — roots are the leading cause of service-line blockage.
