Boyd Hotel
Snyder Furniture Building
The Boyd Hotel, Rupert's first hotel, was a two-story frame building owned by Fred M. and Mattie I. Boyd that opened in January 1906. The owners sold it within a year to Mary Q. Roberts, after which it became known as the Idaho Hotel before being destroyed by fire sometime after 1917.
A brick replacement structure was built before 1930, initially housing two separate businesses: Rupert Electric Company on the south side, selling electrical supplies and radios, and Rupert Seed and Milling Company on the north side, offering garden supplies and chicks.
By the late 1930s, the Snyder Furniture Company occupied the building, and a 1951 photograph documented Broadhead Furniture at the location. The Catmull Brothers later combined this building with adjacent structures into the Country Squire Mall. Before 1983, the buildings were remodeled into a single business called The Showkase Place, specializing in furniture and appliances. The vintage tin ceiling inside is one of only two remaining in the Historic District.
