C.D. Guyer Grocery Building

Originally a frame structure sold to Charles Burgher in 1906, this site housed a grain and seeds business until it was destroyed in the September 5, 1910 fire. Charles D. Guyer then rebuilt with brick on an adjoining lot and later purchased this original lot, also reconstructing it in brick.

The building subsequently served as a grocery store location for at least seven different proprietors through the late 1940s. These early grocers were community-oriented, extending credit monthly and offering complimentary candies to children, and many provided home delivery services.

The Melody Bar occupied the space shortly after World War II and remains there. An annex facing "E" Street, added in 1921, housed Johnny's Barber Shop and the State Liquor Store over time. In 1959, the U.S. Farmer's Home Administration established loan offices there for a regional irrigation project, with the annex eventually converting to a beauty salon.
