Daly's Grocery Building

Land title to this lot was transferred on August 31, 1907, to the Home Supply Company. The structure was among the first brick buildings constructed on the east side of the square, likely built after the devastating 1910 fire prompted property owners to replace wooden structures with more fire-resistant brick.

The building housed multiple businesses over the decades, beginning with Daly's Cash Grocery (listed in 1921), followed by the Dee Frock Shop (1931), the Coast to Coast Hardware Store (opening 1951), Frank's Furniture (1966), and Vanek's shoe repair (established 1971). Robert Vanek continued the shoe repair business starting in 1981.

Architecturally, the building features a glass door with a transom, paired store windows flanking the door, and corner pilasters, along with string coursing, brick dentals supporting the cornice, and brick capping details. The structure retains good historical values and is a contributing component to the Rupert Historic District, with remnants of original signage still visible.
