Mode O Day Building

Henry H. Cook received the transfer of titles to this and several other lots on August 31, 1907, by a special act of Congress. The structure remained vacant through the early 1920s before being constructed. It features a leaded-glass clearstory, inset entrances, and brick-capped parapet characteristic of pre-WWII architecture.

The building housed multiple tenants over the decades. Early occupants included Cole's and a creamery (circa 1938), followed by Clark Electric and City Decorating. Beginning in the 1950s, Mode O'Day, a ladies' dress shop, occupied both sides of the building.

Dale's Barber Shop operated there until fall 1976. Subsequently, The Finishing Touch, a women's hair salon, occupied the east side, while the west side hosted various businesses such as a sandwich shop, a baked goods store, and an employee contracting service.
