Shepard's Jewelry Store / Bush Building

Title to this property was transferred to Lyman N. Huggins on August 31, 1907. Early photographs document an A. W. Adams Real Estate office in a frame structure (1911) and Shepherd's Jewelry Store (circa 1917).

Clarence Bush constructed this building shortly after his adjacent structure, deliberately matching the brick and design patterns to create a unified four-lot appearance. Bush expressed his vision: "I will not be satisfied until the south side of the square is built with a long line of large substantial buildings."

The structure features original hexagon tile floors at both entrances and a stairway providing access to upstairs apartments (occupied until 2005) and a dance hall. The Minidoka County News operated here historically, publishing their weekly paper. Subsequent tenants included Fricke's Fabrics, Horton's, The Rose (photocopy and T-shirt shops), and Playa Azul, an authentic Mexican seafood restaurant that opened in 1994.
